Hey guys i have sent my iphone out again as i have removed the case and there more are visible cracks between the volume key and bezel aswell as the headphone jack.
Im scared that vodafone won't replace as they didnt the first time i sent it out. What should i do???
I know Aaroona had some problems on his white iphones but there harder to see on a black one.
I have sent it out on the 23rd of December through vodafone and am waiting for something to happen.

Hi mate,
Very sorry to hear about this!

Well, my reccomendation to you is to phyiscally go visit MobileFoneRepair. They're completely useless unless you do!

I got to speak first hand with the technician and he said yup theres a problem, and replaced it within 45minutes.(new phone)

Just to back up your case, like I did, take it some articles from the internet that also have had the same problem.

This can-not be ignored.

I ended up swapping to a black iphone in the end. and i haven't got 1 crack.

I did stop using a case and started using an invisible shield as well. i think that may have made a big difference also.

Just some things to consider!

If you need anything else, give us a yell!

After 14 days i recieved a replacemnt iphone from vodafone in the mall! I was so pissed it had cracks in exactly the same place and a huge gap inbetween the bezel!
I went directly to mobilefone repair and they said they'll send it out and cant guarantee anything.
This is why i hate mfr and apple!

Thats extremly strange..

Did you take it to the Mt Wellington MFR?

just to clarify, did they replace it with a white one or a black one?

hey man, i got it repaced with a black one. I took it to the christchurch mfr. They don't carry any iphones so there sending it to the Auckland one... again.
This time im getting the technician in Auckland to call me before its replaced

http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=127116&d=1217409688

the cracks are inbetween the bezel but you need to look in the right light. Do you have any on yours???

The funny thing is my original iphone they replaced was in far better condition than the one  they sent back.

that it strange..

and no, there is no cracks or anything on mine.. Another question I have for you is; Do you use a carry case of ANY kind?

na i used a zagg invisible shield on my old iphone which mfr refused to service with it on (aparantly it wasn't apple aproved) , so im just ordering a new one under the life time warranty but im also thinking of changing cases as the invisible sheild doesn't cover the whole bezel.

Just be warned, there has been warnings going around the threads saying that cases are the cause of a few iPhone's cracking..

I just double checked my iPhone 4 times to make sure there were no cracks, and still haven't found any (touch wood there won't be anymore)

All I can suggest is to keep going back until they give you one that isn't cracked. That's what the warranties for, but its just unfortunate you cant fight your own case up here, really. Because in Auckland is where all the work is done (looking at it and saying "yes lets replace this")

Unfortunately, MFR are real difficult to deal with over the phone, as the staff are quite arrogant. However, when you see them in person, they usually change and are quite nice to deal with.

Oh BTW: I use an invisible Shield, and I wouldn't use anything else. Wouldn't change for the world, TBH. I love it.

PS: Invisible shield have changed their design a little bit and it may actually fit better.
While my bezel isn't completely covered, there is probably only 1mm right around that isn't protected, which doesn't bother me.

Hopefully you find peace with all of this :P It's unfortunate that Apple used plastic (non-technical term) for the backing, I wish they stayed with the Aluminum.

Umm, im not sure if it'll help you, but I can only find one lot (out of 3 or 4) of paperwork (typical, not where you want it to be)

My case number/job number with them is: 1838412

This was an iPhone that WAS replaced. and the "fault" descrpition they wrote was I quote "CRACKS DEVELOPING BY VOLUME SWITCH, SLIGHT GAP ON SIDE".

It sounds exactly what yours was;

and this was the "repair" description;
"vf, crack on side of phone, possible cause by stress, unit replaced"

As you can see, they tried to say it was stress, clearly it wasnt. but oh well, they still replaced it.

Hope this helps, if I find any other paperwork (Its got me motivated to actually... clean? [the dirty word that it is])

You wont believe what just happened!!!
I asked mfr to call me when te phone arrives in auckland but instead i called them today to find out that they had just replaced and "forgot" to call me!
The lady apologized on the phone but still doesnt fix the problem!!! all i can hope is that they replace it with a good one from a different manufature week to the others. Otherwise back it goes! or im just gonna get a refund, which is a shame because i love my iphone!!!!!!

Come on mobile fone repair!

While it sucks they didnt notify you, it would have been worse if they didnt notify you and didnt replace it either.

If you do go to get a refund, DONT send it to MFR.

Take it back to your local vodafone store with your paperwork from MFR and they will sort it out for you. (or at least, should)

But I am at least happy for you for the fact they did replace it.
