This week, I seem to have had a run of users approach me saying their iPhone mail is asking for a password all the time and if they enter the correct one it says incorrect.

Is there some update somewhere I've missed that could be causing this ? Most devices are on latest iOS etc.

Getting users to install Outlook instead seems to work.... but I can see someone asking why they need to install Outlook, so would like something to go back with :D

If it is a 365 email, yes i had issues this week, just gone, started on Sunday 16th. But all solved itself now. Microsoft must have been doing something on the background.

The account is likely using legacy auth, delete the account off the phone and re add it.

Correct. Good luck to anyone still trying to run exchange mail on Windows 7.

If you are running Office 365 email, see the below. Apple and Microsoft have a method for automatically transitioning iOS devices on the mail app from basic to modern with the depreciation on basic auth on Exchange ActiveSync, but you need to enable/consent an application under Azure AD:

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/microsoft-and-apple-working-together-to-improve-exchange-online/ba-p/3513846

Only found this out after I had started chasing users to update, remove and re-add. Had some stragglers that didn't do anything and I can now see from the sign-ins report they have migrated across. It can take a few days after granting consent for users to migrate.

And bingo... turns out a large group of staff ignore previous emails to upgrade :D
