Hi there,

I’m looking to purchase some new airpods from a private seller. But when you enter the serial into https://checkcoverage.apple.com/ it comes up as ‘ Sorry, we’re currently unable to validate your purchase date’
They are brand new sealed, and were supposedly a gift/prize.
Are these ok to purchase? Is there a way to ‘validate’ the purchase date for warranty purposes?
Thanks in advance

That just means they weren't purchased via Apple directly. My Airpods that I got from noel leeming said the same thing until I clicked the link and registered the date of purchase with them.

From memory the Apple Warranty won't activate/register until the first time the device is setup and activated itself.

So in the case of Airpods I would guess that would be the first time they are paired with something.
