I have just bought a brand new iPhone 3g yesterday, and I was disappointed. Very slow youtube video streaming, nearly unwatchable. Very slow download speed. Tvuplayer doesn't work because of slow processor. But everything works beautifully on my iPod touch 2g. Has anybody got this kind of problem with iPhone 3g? Any help or advice. I haven't tested the hsdpa speed yet as I don have coverage in my town.
Slow youtube over wireless is a known and common issue. Youtube works MUCH faster over 3G as opposed to wifi - go figure!?! Over wifi you have to pause the vid and let it download almost completely whereas on 3G it streams perfectly.
TVUPlayer works fine for me, but as the app description says - choose channels that have a bandwidth of less than 200 (and greater than zero) and you shold be fine. Anything more than 200 will generally give a connection error.
Assume you're talking about the Youtube issue - who knows? Apple never release indications as to what will be included in future updates (not fixes remember! The iPhone is a perfect device after all!!).
Gimme the ability to run apps in the background and I'll be one very happy chappy :)
youtube over 3g is different to over wifi, you will notice a very big difference in video quality, hence the reason it streams so well over 3g.
The wifi youtube issue has been a pain for the last few firmware versions, i've found that truveo works better than the youtube player, hopefully they will address it though.
i broke my old modem, and i got a new thomson wifi modem now, and i set it to b only. the default setting was b/g. and now i stream video and youtube on my iphone 3g very very fast.
