I'm being lazy today and cant be bothered asking Google.....

 

I'm moving from Android (Samsung A72) to an Apple iPhone 13 later this month, and had a query.

 

Is there built in functionality in iOS, to auto enable the hotspot on the phone, when its connected to Apple Car Play ? Or will I require a 3rd party app ?

Wired or wireless Carplay? 
I ask, because wireless carplay starts with a Bluetooth handshake, then takes over the Wifi connection to contimue, which prevents a hotspot from occurring. Or at least this has been my experience for the last couple of years.

Generally wired since the car has a dedicated USB for connectivity.

You could do this with an automation in the Apple Shortcuts app.

 

Set it to turn on the hotspot when Carplay connects.
