Were you using Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator?

From Google it seems there is no way to transfer between Android to iOS. You have to manually recreate it in the iOS app.

I use both and found it the other way round. Google Authenticator has an export/import menu item - it’s easy and on my iPhone. I see no way to do this with Microsoft Authenticator.

Microsoft Authenticator allows you to backup to a Microsoft account. When installing the app you have to do a restore before logging in with it.

Yep - thought it might have been fixed in the last 3/4 years… since lost my MS Authenticator stuff on a phone reset.

I now use OTCs in 1Password.

I just checked and you are correct. You can only restore from the same platform.

I use Authy for OTP and have Microsoft Authenticator only for Office and Microsoft accounts, which also have Yubikeys attached to.

Yes sorry I meant that in Microsoft Authenticator you can't move from one platform to another.

freitasm: Microsoft Authenticator allows you to backup to a personal Microsoft account. When installing the app you have to do a restore before logging in with it.

Emphasis mine. Note that M$ does not allow you to use a corporate / business MS account.

thanks so i have discovered that to transfer the Google Authenticator stuff it's just a QR code a way.

for the Microsoft Authenticator there is no way to transfer between platforms.

so I guess I will be keeping the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra for a while until I can be bothered sorting out EVERY authenticator ....

So far I've done one ....
