Hi All,

Jumped into the Mac world and purchased a A2141 MacBook Pro recently.  Intel based
Not knowing much about Mac, as it suggested I updated to latest OS release Tahoe 26.1

Once updated, all functions worked other than built in sound. (headphones plugged in work fine)

On boot get the greeting sound, then a 'bing' as it logs in then nothing.

If I pkill the audio coreaudiod process then I get some sound, but its very muffled (sounds like down a long tunnel) and only seems to be like left speaker sound.

I have tried looking through forums and done the suggested resets etc, but no luck.

I even signed up for 26.2 beta and installed that to see if there was a fix.

Anyone else come across this?
I am pondering, if even possible to wipe it, reinstall earlier OS release and just not upgrade?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I am new to this and very lost.

Thank You

Have you tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM? Check online for instructions. Can normally help to fix such issues on the Intel based Macs.

Here's how to reinstall MacOS - https://support.apple.com/en-nz/guide/mac-help/mchl338cf9a8/mac

There's a few key combinations to get latest/original OS etc.
