I have a problem with my jailbroken 2.21 3G iphone. Got a XT prepaid simcard for it to try out data speeds and they were GREAT can listen to high quality internet radio to and from work with out it stuffing up! unlike vodafone even when i have full 3G signal it just doesnt seem to be fast enough connection to keep up. Anyway the problem now is that i have put my vodafone sim back in and it still says im on telecom for the carrier icon top left of screen and under carrier in settings. But im definatly on vodafone. I tryed have turning phone off and off several times and changes sims back and forth but no matter what sim is in it say im connected to telecom. can anyone help?
has happened to a few iphones I have put XT sim cards into, although it says telecom it is still connected to Vodafone, i i think a bug in the iphone software
haha nzbnw i whish i could swap over but im sure I would have to pay a large contract cancelation fee.
Anyway it gets worse i have downloaded a new copy of 2.21 and installed it, still it says its on telecom when its not ahhh. Does this mean shomething has changed in the baseband?
i got the same problem.... i am in the middle of getting my number ported to Telecom XT network... and so am having to use Vodafone sim until tomorrow morning.. and when i pop in the Voda sim.. it comes up as Telecom...
any idea why??
Hi guys.. i had this same problem... and i held both bottons for long for it to reset on its on.. and then it was all fixed.. :)
mine is non jail broken phone... as is as purchased from vodafone but running XT smoothly...
ive had a fantastic transitiona and its been smooth! thanks to telecom store in st lukes and nzbnw!!! :)
Have tried all those things above, seems to have happened to a lot of people round the rest of the world, even when they have just roamed onto another network. The ways they have fixed it seem to be wait for a new firmware to update to. Or some how install an old firmware version and then downgrade the base band aswel some how. Then install the latest version firmware again. Downgrading to earlier firmware and base band versions seem to me to be an easy and sure way to brick an iphone.
I have also read some have returned there iphone to apple under warranty with same fault after roaming and ended up with a new replacement. I think i will just bear it and wait for 3.0 to come out and see what happens
oh how bizzare... i must be one of the lucky ones... :P cos after a reset.. mine is working fine.. both recognising the voda and XT.... mind you i did update the voda carrier file as well as the new XT one by nzbullet.... and then i hard reset it... but thats my way of having dealt with it...
