Here is my situation, I am leaving on business shortly to the states and taking my 3G NZ iPhone, this is a NON hacked legit 3G.

Instead of paying the stupid rates Voda NZ will charge me to phone and receive call's are any of you aware if I could simply slot in an AT&T prepay card and use local call rates.

Also would like to have data over there not relying on hot spots using pre pay. Is the NZ iPhone only locked for NZ vodafone network or do you think putting in a pre pay AT&T card will work with no hacking required?

Any help / comments would be appreciated :)

Clint

Sweet .... well im going to give it a go and see what happens, will post how it went on my return. I have complete faith in the iPhone .... it's the AT&T side that through reading im not 100% convinced. But thank you for clarifying.

Get an AT&T prepay SIM card. Then you call 611 and there's an option to add mobile data packs. Make sure you change the APN to the correct AT&T one though:

APN: isp.cingular

Password: CINGULAR1
