right, some of you probly read my old post on me getting the 3.0 free, it is stil the situation, but i realised it is short lived glory becuase 3.0 sucks. i've tried to restore normally, through restore mode and through DFU mode but none work becuase i always get erros like 1604 and 1600. And before those of you with iphones try to answer it by trying it on your iphones, i am running a ipod touch first generation. i know its easy to downgrade on iphone, but ipod is retarded. anyways, how do i go back to 2.2.1??? please please please help....

Have you tried an older version of iTunes to do the downgrade (in DFU mode) ?

I found that when I accidentally upgraded to 2.0 on my 2G iPhone last year that I had to use a previous version of iTunes to downgrade to 1.1.4 again.

i've tried 8.2 beta, but i have to use some form of 8.2 (either the beta or official release) because they are the only ones that recognise ipod, all other versions tell me my ipod is incompatable because its made with another version of itunes. :(

Is this on 1st Gen or 2nd Gen? I got iPhone OS 3.0 on 1st Gen iPod Touch 32GB and it's working fine.

First Generation, 8 GB. the itunes store loads like normal, but all the info is packed into a single line, and i am unable to scroll at all, so i did a reformat, and it fixed it just now, and i find safari is quite laggy too. Its barable, but i really think they should let us downgrade.

Hmm... I think this is when/where YMMV. I felt the Safari is at its best ever.

Correct - which is why you must use DFU mode - note that this isn't the same as the "connect to iTunes" screen. If you successfully enter DFU mode, you'll only have a blank screen, but the device will be present as a USB device when you plug it into the PC. In fact, I think the device driver in windows actually says "iPhone in DFU mode connected" (or iPod).. but that's going back a long way in my memory.

I'll try it on another computer later. Anyone been able to downgrade from the official itunes released update?
