I have a 3G iPhone, OS 3, running on the XT network.

Currently I connect it though iTunes on my work PC. I want to also connect it to iTunes on my laptop. Is it possible to have it connected to two iTunes?

If not, how can I change my iPhone to connect to my laptop iTunes without losing all my current content on the iPhone? Can anyone recommend any reliable software that could allow me to do this?

You would need to save all of the content from the PC and transfer it that way to your laptop. Then load it into the iTunes on there and activate your iTunes account on the laptop.

You can authorise up to 5 computers to connect to your iTunes account, so yes it won't be a problem to have it connected to your PC and your laptop.

But you can only sync one library with your phone. My guess would be to transfer everything from your PC over to your laptop, then sync your phone with the laptop. It will tell you it's not set up to sync with this library and if you want to you can go ahead and sync but it will replace everything on your phone with what's on your laptop. But if that includes everything from the PC then it won't be a problem. From then on your laptop will be your main computer which it is synchronised with.

Thanks, guys. Music and photos on my iPhone aren't really an issue as I have those backed up and can easily move them to my laptop, but I am concerned more about my contacts and text history. If I sync the iPhone to my laptop, will all the contacts etc presently on the iPhone remain, will they be overridden?

A chick in the forum good to see!

I've made the mistake of tripling all my contacts but its easily avoided. It should ask you if you would like to keep all current contacts on the phone and just add that aren't already there.

Cant understand why apple wont let us move the library around like we would for an ipod? Is there a technical explanation?

Does it also give you the option to not add contacts at all? I have all the contacts on my phone that I want, and when I originally set it up, it included a billion contacts I didn't want, so I spent a lot of time deleting them all.

um I'm using exchange sync and that does. You can turn on and off contacts, calendar and email.
