There has been a suggestion that the iPhone 3G is having issues with switching to HSDPA on the VF network which enables higher speeds.

Can a dozen people post their UP/DOWN load speeds directly from their phones here please. Some people are enjoying high speeds 1.3Mbps and above in 3G areas and some are only getting 113kbps in 3G areas. I'd like to get some evidence of what is actually going on around the traps.

Please post 3G or 3GS and then your test results.

Cheers

You've also gotto remember that some cell sites are in the process of being upgraded (in other words, might not be)
So they will generally achieve much lower speeds.

It was till this morning that I could finally achieve 1.5mbps on my tower (prior to that, i was getting 0.68ish)
So it most likely is not actually be a problem with the iPhone itself.

iPhone 3G in Takapuna, Auckland, on Vodafone.

Down = 672kbps
Up = 334kbps

This is about the typical maximum for me since about the beginning of the year, but usually I'll hit around the 400-500 mark download. Prior to that I would I would easily get 1.3-1.4Mb but that is now just a distant memory.

For me it's not so much the speed but that the iPhone drops back to GPRS at the drop of a hat when on a call, web browsing, etc, regardless of how strong the 3G signal is. Another reason why a move to Telecom is attractive.

Blazing speed.......

Mt. Wellington, Auckland, 2.10pm inside a building with 3 bars of 3G coverage

Down: 0.10Mb
Up: 0.29Mb

What good is 3GB of data when you are getting speeds like that?!

I used to get this Kind of speed every single time I have signal. (I forced my iPhone to 3G signal only, it can't receive 2G signal, so my iPhone couldn't fall back to 2G)
