Have been searching for info about the lack of a text character counter on the iPhone. Would appear that there is no way to get a character counter (without jailbreaking maybe??) however in portrait mode 160 characters is 10 lines and in landscape mode, 160 characters is just over 5 lines.

Just in case this helps you avoid excess text fees.

Excess text fees? I tohught it just wouldnt let you type once you reach 160

Iv been wondering about this too. Good to know approximately how many lines in each orentiation tho
