Hi,

I just brought a new iPhone 3GS , i want to get on the app store for the free stuff, but I can't seem to create an account without providing a credit card.

I have tried the USA trick but my iTunes wont have a bar of it

Are there any work arounds ?

Cheers

You will need a credit card to register an iTunes account, I'm 'fraid. Just get one of those Prezzy/Loaded card, or if your bank has Visa Debit card, then use that.

Or... have you check this out? Create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card, the least you need is an iTunes gift card, which is now available in most electronic stores.

As long as you get an iTunes Gift card, to create the account, I see why not possible as the instruction given by Apple KB.

Thanks for your response, I have a credit card I was just more worried about getting billed for who knows , seems odd giving someone my credit card details when I don't want to buy anything :-)

Well you'd have to explicitly agreed to "pay" before they can bill you, and every purchase accompanied with an email receipt. I see no problem with it, unless you have a paranoia towards online shopping or using credit card. Just my thought.

The recepits even arrive when you buy free apps :)

I re-add my credit cared every time I purchase something through iTunes then remove it after purchase, sounds random but that was my compromise

You should just get a prepaid credit card like Prezzy or Loaded, be easier and safer and less hassle. Or just load your account with iTunes Gift card.

I also make sure I don't use 1-click purchase, so hence prevent even myself to make quick purchase...

You can (I think) use the credit card to get pass the registration, then remove it then from then on use iTunes Gift Card for iTunes store credit. Then you won't have to worry about credit card issue.
