Can anyone advise me on a free way to sync my Outlook 2003 on my XP desktop computer & Mail on my iPhone. I have a 200MB data allowance & have an @xtra.co.nz email, I want to check my email on the iPhone without deleting emails I have already deleted on my desktop computer. Thanks

Probably the easiest way to manage the whole mail thing on the road as well as Contacts is through GMail. Create a GMail account and get it to clear the xtra.co.nz mail box. Set Outlook to download from GMail and tell GMail to Archive emails once read.

Then implement the PUSH Gmail service.

You will be able to deal with mail and contacts on the road and get a copy of all email into Outlook when you get home. However all of the mail will still be sitting in the All Mail folder at GMail as an offsite backup. So if you should ever lose your PST file, all of the Contacts and Mail will be available at GMail.

I have this setup and it works perfectly. I have been averaging about 1.6mb/day with Push GMail enabled and that includes all of my other data services, so its not that big a dent in 200mb/month.

Cheers Mike
