So i'm looking for ways to mount/hold the iPhone in the car. What do you guys use?

I'm thinking about going for an airvent mount, just for simplicity and it's at the right height.

Yeah I use an airvent mount and it works fine for me although it does wobble around a fair bit. Depends on the shape and size of you airvent fins I guess.

I am also looking for a solution for my iphone 3gs, but wanting something that charges and has an fm transmittor to my stereo.  I have an incipio feather case on the back so would be good to get something that would fit it without having to take it out.

Finally something where the phone could be turn landscape for satnav use.

Would consider a combination of solutions it people felt they worked.

Any suggestions would be great :)

Cheers

Mike.

I've found that Car based FM Transmitters are useless in Auckland, I've tried a number of them from an expensive Belkin one to a cheap one. The problem is there is too many FM Stations in Auckland so you cannot find a free channel which works all the time. It'll work for 5 mins, you go around a corner or over a hill and it stuffs up again and you get interferance again..

a proclip usa 915290 - Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel and Pass-Through Connector for charging / audio

its quite expensive, but works great  (its a 2 part solution need the mount for your vehicle as well)

@mpvincent   i agree with LennonNZ fm transmitters suck in auckland, i ditched it and went for a wired solution into the factory steroe using its AUX port, which also charges the phone.

If you want the name of a car audio place in auckland that has a clue with the above send me a PM

FM solutions for iphones are a poor solution. If possible get a compatible head unit, one that supports a direct ipod / iphone connection. The required cable is rather cheap when i got mine ($35).

Connect it up, and control it from the head unit, charges the iphone as well.

Hmm, how bad is the wobble with the air vent holder? Frustrating?

I've purchased a number of things from them now.  They are legit, and you can't go past the free shipping!  Although recently the shipping has become a little slower.  But still worth the wait for the prices!

Not sure exactly which 3G car charger you are looking at, but if it is this one here http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15618 then I have purchased two.  One for my 3GS which does work, and another ordered today for my girlfriend's recently purchased 3G.

Oh, and they might hate me for saying this, but a lot of the gadgets for sale on the "one item a day" websites over here seem to be sourced from Deal Extreme.  You can normally pick up the same thing cheaper by purchasing direct...
