I am new to the whole 3G phone thing (previously a phone for phonecalls kind of guy). So the iphone ecosystem has been an interesting experiment in the availability of information wherever I am.
However I am becoming annoyed with my iphone, because for reasons unknown to me, it seems to drop the mobile data connection after some time (some time because not sure how long this period is).
Ironically the wee 3G with the bars still sit at the top of the screen....
The connection is restored with a restart, so it doesn't seem to be the network settings reset bug.
In fixing the problem without restarting I have tried (without success) turning the network connections off in the settings, and turning them on again, also tried airplane mode, and switching to 2.5G.
Essentially I would like to be able to restore the data connection without having to restart the phone!
Something I do regularly is move onto my wifi network when at home, but I am unsure if this is the issue, so I may disable this access point to see if it helps.
My phone is running 3.1.2, my router at home is an n-enable AEBS (ot the dual radio version)
Can others share whether this is an expected thing for a 3g phone? An expected thing for an iphone? I can't seem to find much discussion on this on the tubes, so thought I would bring it up here.
