Hi all,

My iPhone 3GS seems to have developed a hardware problem, possibly from being left in a very hot car. It wont boot, and cannot be restored.

Looking online, overseas people an take the phone into an Apple Store and if Apple cannot fix it they will replace it. Will Vodafone offer the same hassle free service even if I do not have a reciept?

Or would I be better off calling Apple and having the phone sent away?

I had a 3G iPhone purchased from the Vodafone online store replaced but as with almost anything like that you definitely need the receipt

If you've damaged the phone yourself then it's not a warranty issue I'm afraid... you can take it in store and ask them to have it assessed but yes, that requires sending it off to Apple. Vodafone doesn't do technical assessments of devices in store beyond basic trouble-shooting.

Umm.. Working Temperature of 3GS is 0 to 35C. It has NEVER in recorded history via the met service got this hot in New Zealand unless the Back of a car can get hotter than the ambiant temperature of air.

I'm simply responding to the grandparent post which says it could be due to that.

I make no attempt to be a meteorologist (sp) but I have to say it does indeed get a lot hotter than 35C in a car.

35 degree air temperature would probably equare to a good 60 degrees inside the car on a hot day if the car is left in the sun.

I just read up about it and yes (well the internet says it does) (I dunno how) it gets hotter inside a Car than outside the car...

What was the temp in the car it was left in?
