My iPhone 3G is feeling slower and slower by the day and I need an upgrade. I look almost obsessively for rumours about the new iPhone but can't find much. I think it's being overshadowed by iPod Touch XL.

So has anyone got a roundup of what little we know of the new iPhone, presumably being released later this year?

Have we heard anything that might hint at Telecom stocking the phone (apart from the Gen-i news recently)?

Cool

Besides the obvious upgrades (storage, CPU, camera etc), one of the most salivating rumours I heard was that the back of the iPhone 4 might be touch sensitive like the Magic Mouse.
Just think of the great applications this would have, especially for gaming! :D

I'm surprised theres not some technogly apple has made so you could use the iPhone as a mouse, It would be a bit werid to use. Could they use the Camera for tracking? Lol :)

There actually is an app (free) available from the App Store called Logitech Touch Mouse. It lets you use your iPhone as a trackpad for your computer (Mac or PC) as long as they're connected to the same wi-fi network. I've found it very handy!

Latest rumour I read was that the iPhone will be a unibody Alloy version much like the iPod classic or macbook series.

Personally, I don;t put much stock in that as I think the metal will interfere with the signal strength etc.

Yeah there are actually plenty of apps available to let you use your iPhone as a mouse. I'm currently using iTeleport (which is actually a VNC client, but serves as a trackpad for me) and Rowmote (which acts like the apple remote).

Air Mouse Pro lets you use the accelerometer to control your mouse pointer, but I couldn't get the hang of it!

I was thinking more of the iPhone's gaming bonuses having a trackpad on the back would have, like getting my fat thumbs out of the way of the screen :)
