I purchased my iPod Touch on the day it was announced last year from the apple online store. It synced fine with my laptop running vista for three months then when I tried to sync one day it did not show up in iTunes. It did however connect to windows and also showed in the iTunes taskbar icon right click menu as "Eject "Tom's Touch"" (Tom's touch is my iPod's Name). I then performed a full restore of my iPod and it worked for two or three syncs before it reverted to it's origional symptoms. I then gave up on it for a few months but have decided to continue to try and fix it. I have over the last few days performed a full removal of iTunes and then installed it again. This left the same symptoms. So I then tried it on the iMacs at school and it did not show up either whereas my friends iPod touch 2G 8GB did. I want too claim under warrenty but am checking here to see if there is any ideas from people here as to what could be done to fix it? I look forward to hearing your thought and ideas and whether you think it will be replaced under warrenty ( I have AppleCare)

Try restoring it again.

Are you installing apps?

Try just having music on it, and use it like normal (without apps) for a few days and see what happens.

Does it charge okay?
have you tried using a different cable?
Also, I have seen comments where people say restoring in DFU mode helps? Not confirmed, and I have not had a chance to try it myself, but you could also try that.

Let us know the results.

The restore was in DFU mode. It will not be recognized in iTunes so I don't see the point in restoring every time I want to sync with iTunes.

You bought AppleCare. I'd phone them for the support you paid for?

I have lodged a repair request with Renaissance Technical Services Group and will see what happens when I take it in next week. I would rather have them look at it and pay the 33.50 when it is not warranty covered than live with a simply fixed issue.

Only $33.50?

Surely if you go through the support process a repair/replacement would have to be forthcoming in the end?

Good luck.

Have just been on the phone with Renaissance Dervice and they told me they were "waiting for parts which translates to "we are replacing your iPod" so I should have it within the week!!
