Wonder if it will slow down my ipod touch 2g. The iphone 3 software did and made it more laggy.

Afaik you still have to use Xcode to install the GM candidate (at least I had to). The new itunes just allows you to backup folders etc.

Not really. iTunes 9.2 will install the GM firmware without Xcode, using the Restore button trick (press Option or Ctrl and click it)

As said earlier in this topic its easy if you have a MAC and download the itunes_9.2_beta.dmg and iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw from here: http://imodzone.net/download/ via a torrent. It worked for me, no problems - just click the shift + option button and restore in iTunes then select the ipsw button.

This does not require any registered UDID as its a Gold Master release.
