With Apple up to its old tricks again of never producing enough product for a launch with the added benefit of bragging rights 'oh we have run our of stock, demand is through the roof!' etc.

I wouldnt be surprised if (and this is only if they manage to hold true to the July date for the NZ launch) we see such limited numbers arrive on our shores that Vodafone will be changing their Iphone4 landing page to 'Check back soon for when we have more stock!'

On a side note whos going to be the first Geekzone member to have one in their hands here?
Anyone returning from the UK or US on the 24th?

600,000 pre-ordered on a day is pretty impressive by any measure. I don't believe any company would have anticipated such demand.

Just how many were they supposed to have available before launching?
600,000 in the first day was unexpected by most commentators..

typing too slow :)

I think the trick is getting everyone to believe that stock is limited.
On overseas forums there are always people who had to opt for the "2nd-tier" (or slightly later delivery date) of preorders and it seems they're usually pleasantly surprised when their iPad or iPhone arrives earlier than expected.
It's all skillful PR and smoke and mirrors to keep people on the edge of their seats!

:)

:IMHO

better not be I'm looking forward to the new iPhone. Hopefully the Ipad lunch doesn't interfere with it.

Similar hype to last year and online orders held out for at least a day. I got my order in 7am on Friday (was up at midnight but the site wouldn't update to let me order) for delivery early on Saturday :).

Several on Trademe already...I have no idea how you could justify paying what they're asking though!!!
I'll be interested to see how they stagger the iPhone4 and iPad launch/es here though!

I don't think I'll be getting one, since there's this reception issue when 'held incorrectly' in the left hand.

I'm a left-hander you see... *sigh*

+1 I'm left handed too.. I was looking forward to this. I might wait for other manufacturers release. Good luck to early adopters.

They're just an accessory so will be available from wherever we can buy the iPhone 4.
Looks like you can fix the issue with Sellotape anyway....not that cool for such a nice device...I'm sure a firmware update can remedy it anyway.
As for the left-handers, I'm sure at some stage apple will release an update to cure that too lol

:D
