OK, this has been discussed to death already on here and I couldn't find an appropriate post that's still open, but here goes.

First, look here:

http://www.apple.com/nz/iphone/buy/

Now, go here:

http://www.apple.com/au/iphone/buy/

Put the two tabs in your browser side by side. Notice a difference?

You have to look closely but look at the break between where it lists the places of where to buy the phone and details of the iPhone accessories.

Apple NZ has two lines, Apple AU has a single line.

This time last year prior to the 3GS going on sale, myself and a few others on here noticed the exact same difference between the two sites, with the general consensus being it was a place holder for a second seller's details to be added. Speculation was that it was going to be Telecom who would become the second seller, particularly after that Telecom guy's tweet (his name escapes me) saying they were in "deep discussions with Apple" about selling the new phone. As we know, Apple's online store became the holder of this spot, and we now had a choice between buying direct from either Apple or Vodafone.

Back to the present day, and it appears there is again a spot for details of a third seller to be added.

As I said above, the possibility of Telecom becoming an official seller of the iPhone has been discussed at length on here at various times, but if this is another place holder, I personally can't think of a genuine contender other than Telecom.

Want more proof? Look here at Apple Canada:

http://www.apple.com/ca/iphone/buy/

Your opinions? A place holder for a third seller or a formatting error on Apple's part? My money's on the former.

Yes true I suppose it could be MagnumMac's details, but they did sell the 3GS when it first went on sale.

We can all live to hope and pay that telecom will get the iPhone but it is more likely to be a retail outlet (Magnum Mac) than another telco.

i cant really say who i know at telecom, but what i can say is that telecom are focusing on android. telecom recently had a "open day" type thing for staff and they were ALL about "android, android aaaaand android" apple hasnt event been mentioned. in fact, employees are being encouraged to stop using iphone and use android...

Guys, just interested in thoughts on the possibility of a third seller and who, based solely on the existence of the differences between the web sites. If you think it might be Telecom then fine, but I don't really want this to degenerate into another 'will Telecom get the iPhone' thread where it becomes all about Telecom and why they won't be selling the iPhone.

Thanks!

You're probably right actually. MagnumMac is the closest we have to an actual Apple retail store so it'd make sense for them to become an official seller of the iPhone.

No, it won't be MagnumMac going in there. MagnumMac already sell the iPhone as a Vodafone dealer, they do not sell it direct. There's no more chance of it being MagnumMac than any other Vodafone dealer such as First Mobile.

Does it really matter? It won't change the price or end user support....

Apple made their prices $30 cheaper than buying through Vodafone so it did change the price of the 3GS, plus it was difficult to buy one outright from Vodafone, so a third seller to add a bit of competition for your dollars can only be a good thing.

What if MagnumMac were to break away from the Vodafone deal? Then it could be a placeholder for them as they would be selling outright.

Cheers

Lol so you open the door with your post, even state " I personally can't think of a genuine contender other than Telecom"  but then don't want the thread being about "will Telecom get the iPhone"?  Bit optomistic.

From those two sites in Chrome, it doesnt look like there is a spare space, just the standard spacing.

The discussion is about if there's a third seller coming or a formatting error. I gave an opinion and the first couple posts launched straight into why it won't be Telecom, I simply asked that the focus remain on the above before it carried on to be all about Telecom, just policing my own thread that's all.
