I have been looking around for a decent DVD to ipad converter. Most on the net I've found tend to be trial versions only.

What is everyone using?

I wouldn't mind putting some of my kid's DVD's onto my ipad for longer trips in the car etc.

I don't have an iPad but I do rip DVDs to go on my phone - using Aimersoft DVD Ripper. It's really simple to use. Since I bought my copy several free upgrades have come out and I recently noticed an iPad option in the latest release.

I use mine on a PC but I just found this link to the Mac version:

http://www.aimersoft.com/dvd-ripper-for-mac.html

You can purchase and download over the 'net. Before I bought I evaluated many of these things and liked the Aimersoft most. I never found a free one (but there may well be one) and the evaluation copies put a watermark on the ripped copy.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

There are some software from Audials for example... You will find a limited trial version on their site, and of course if you like it then you will have to purchase a license.

bazbo: Handbrake

+1 for Handbrake if you can get it to work. Re-install maybe?

You could try VidCoder - http://vidcoder.codeplex.com/
or
Autobrake - http://www.thecole.co.uk/autobrake/

which are both based on Handbrake anyway, but each have a different GUI.

I use a payware called 1-click DVD to iPod.

It's very simple (1 click) and easy to use.

I've been using it for a number of years now.

cost me about $20 I think.
