Hi All,

Am running a Iphone 3GS on XT since September last year with no issues up until about 3 weeks ago.

Phone has started dropping out with no connectivity on calls, txt or data. I have noted the following. 3G icon disappears but 3 to 5 bars remain on signal meter at this point I know I have no data connection but can still make some limited calls. Drop outs seems to be random and last anywhere from 5 minutes to 3 or 4 hours and appears to just come back on.

I have tried all the usual fixes, hard reset, turn off remove sim leave and restart, reset network settings, restore from itunes and nothing seems to work.

The kicker is I just spent 10 days travelling Australia, Dubai and Oman and had zero phone issues in all three countries, come back home and bang back to drop outs.

Doing a carrrier search shows vodfone network but no XT when no service

Called telecom when it first started happening and finally got through to a GenI guy who said i needed to reset phone and there were no XT networks issues in the area.

Currently looking at my phone looking at the no service indicator thinking ..... mmm what next .... should I call telecom, Apple or ???

Anyone else had same issues and better still fixed them ?

Oh and I'm in Taranki and coverage is generally not an issue and my wifes XT mobile (not i phone) has been fine.

Cheers

Tobias

ok got a new updated Sim from Telecom and installed - initially minor improvements with still frequent drop outs lack of connectivity but gradually these have reduced to now only happening once every two or three days ...... i know this sounds ridiculous (because it is) but it like the phones connectivity is healing itself after new sim - there's a logical reason I'm sure....... i just don't know what it is.

Cheers

Turns out it was a hard ware fault with the phone. After geting case number from Apple sent to mobile phone repairs on Monday - had a new phone Wednesday moring.

Fortunately I had extended the warranty for 120 odd bucks a week prior to 12 month anniversary of purchase.

Stoked with service from apple and mobile phone repairs.

Cheers

I was going to say it sounded hardware related. I have been testing the XT sim for 4 days now, will call quaiity/data speed/line echo/dropped calls (lack of) all being amazing.

I was told XT and VF 3G were very different, like night and day and they were right.

The iPhone rocks on XT.
