I stumbled across this http://bit.ly/bfsRiM which states that the pricing for the iPhone 4 will be announced on Wednesday in Australia.  We can expect the same here.  This is also exactly what happened for the 3GS.

Vodafone will probably say something when Apple let them,

I don't think some people realise how strictly Apple control every aspect of their product in the marketplace including product and plan pricing.
