Just checking if there is any up date with the fix for this, or, if this is in the pipeline and being actively worked on by Apple?

Cheers

Why would it matter? Doesnt it use wifi and is totally independant of the cell network?

Basically, it doesn't work. Issues with the activation SMS.

Can someone with a iPhone 4 test this and report?

Someone for www.iphone4forum.net says: "I've managed to find a fix"

Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings>PIN>Auto Restart>DONE

You will only be required to change back your...*
Wallpaper
Sounds Options
Mail and WiFi Passwords

Works great - now people can initiate a Facetime call using my ported number

There appears to be a decent work around for the ported number issue.

About half way down the page starting with a person called cynikal a number of people have had success in using a ported number and factime.

link  Apple forum.

Hope this helps.

I am on Vodafone but about to port to 2degrees. Does anyone know if one (which one?) of the below will work?

1) Before I port use my VF SIM to activate then port (number will stay same, SIM and operator will change to 2degrees)

2) Before I port activate Facetime using 2degrees SIM (SIM and operator will stay same, number will change)

I'm picking 2) won't work as Facetime appears to be continually linked to number, but will 1)?

It is now working okay. At least for me it is.

I have an 021 number that I ported from Voda to XT and I successfully activated FaceTime today. I am running iOS 4.1.

I first went into settings -> Phone and removed the +64 from my number and left just the 021...

Just for the reference I activated FaceTime without having any WiFi coverage at the time!

Same here, its working!

Kept the +64 in the front though. I followed this - This fixes it http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4246

Good luck.

Yep working now. I have a 021 on XT and activated it with the +64 on wireless and no reset required. Took about 45 seconds.

I got mine working the same way; followed the apple instructions from the link above. I had a muck around changing my phone number first from the +64 and now I can't remember the original format. :P Doh.

How does it go?
+64 21 etc or +64 021?
Thanks!
