I got the iphone 4 today from Vodafone.. I rang the customer service and they told me the phone is unlocked. is it true??

Yes, you can use the iPhone on Telecom XT or 2D networks if you wish.

Yep its unlocked. Just need a Sim from the network you want to join and your set

Except for a brief period over a couple of weeks just a couple of years ago when Vodafone decided this would be a great idea... And it backfired.

You might still find some low priced handsets locked to Vodafone - there's a Vodafone 0800 number you can call to unlocked those for free.
