VFNZ might have numbers on how many they have sold since first launching the device...

Hehe, VF can't or won't even tell you where and when they're being sold. You think they'll tell you how many??

A rough estimate? A little bird told me something like 100,000 before the launch of the iPhone 4.

This put the iPhone in the top seller single smartphone model ever around here.

What would even more interesting (as an aside from your enquiry) would be the breakdown of Vodafone vs Telecom/XT?

i think a straw poll might be in order..,get a large enough sample size then get a percentage breakdown. I suspect there would be a few on XT and other carriers and you have to ask yourself, lets say its 10% (and I think its a LOT more than 10%), is there any other country in the world where more than 10% are not on the official carrier. Even US with all the "issues" with AT & T probably doesn't have a 10% defection rate

Little confused as to the purpose of this post - got no relevance to the OP's question and probably no effect on the development of his app.

As for the question you pose itself, it is flawed. Vodafone doesn't have exclusive rights on the iPhone. You've been able to buy them outright from Apple and use them on any network you choose. So those that are using the iPhone on XT are not necessarily "defectors" from Vodafone. Also, the phone sold in NZ is unlocked. In the US, the phone is locked to AT&T so of course the numbers won't compare.

I heard it was about 100,000 as well from somewhere.

If its a good app, can we have it free first please? and dont forget to accomodate the retina display. Rather than the rectum display of the older models. ( no offense, just in comparison)

simple logic.

The OP titled it "Iphone User Numbers" so I was just asking as an aside under that heading (which I said) to their enquiry (which was already answered with people suggesting 100,000). I am sorry my question was of no interest to you..I was simply wondering of the 100,000 how many were with which providers?

Yes that has no immediate relevance to thier app (which we dont know what it is yet so it might??) but I thought a question worth asking "as an aside".

Being locked to AT & T isnt worth much as jailbreakers/unlockers have been working around that for years so my comment was merely a passing quip that Vodafone NZ is the OFFICIAL CARRIER (Apple advertise that, Vodafone advertise that, XT even advise their customers that) so how many are with the Official Carrier compared to say other countries.

I think its time that Apple released that XT is a valid option for future handsets...so curious if the data supported that with user numbers....which brings me back to the OP title...

To the OP (and Mauricio), I apologize if you think I have highjacked your post...was not my intention and was merely adding another angle to look into it. Good luck with your App
