Anybody had any luck getting a credit for the UK sms/mms that occur when attempting to activate FaceTime?

I'm not having much luck with the customer services reps (they have no ideas whats going on)

I'm on prepaid if it matters and have about $12 (about 20 messages sent when I activated the phone #) racked up in attempting to get FT to activate...Would I get a better response trying to get some help on @telecomnz?

And no, its still not working after attempting every trick out there :<

Thanks

Not sure how much luck you will have getting a refund, you should probably stop flicking the switch so often.

Incidentally, I just activated for the first time ever, using my 021 number on 2degrees, thread here

Hmm yeah that what I was thinking, but if you dont ask you wont receive...

The weird thing is that I have had it state its been activated (e.g. we will share you number with blah blah)...only when I go to initiate a FaceTime I don't see the icon on my dialpad to start it. However if I call from my dads to my phone (using my 2degrees pre-paid number) to mine, his activates on the screen (e.g. shows his face) but it then fails (most likely due to my end). Subsequently after the failed facetime, my facetime status changes back to waiting for activation.

Very irritating and costly to attempt to work out.

Interesting that yours has activated on 2degrees. Have you managed to initiate a FT to make sure its working correctly?

Well theres an issue with my number receiving the txt back to my phone...which is on the XT network...

Had my phone been able to receive the message back and activate there would be no problems.

I have no issue paying the first sms as thats whats meant to happen..whats not meant to happen is the the phone continuously sending messages because it cannot activate.

And to think Telecom were ready for iPhone users

Telecom did state they are ready for iP4 users...so I would expect some form of support.

http://www.iphonewzealand.co.nz/2010/telecom/telecom-were-ready-for-iphone-4-users-new-smartphone-extra-plan-launched/

Telco's overseas have been refunding users over the issue. What happens if I was unaware of the potential issues and went through $100credit while attempting to activate a feature that is meant to work on the phone outright?

I haven't heard Telecom officially say there is an issue with this and advise users not to activate. Yet they are happy to take my money while offering no help.

I have an 021 number that I ported from Voda to XT and I successfully activated FaceTime today. I am running iOS 4.1.

Please note that until today I have constantly failed to activate FaceTime.

Maybe what made it work for me was that I first went into settings -> Phone and removed the +64 from my number and left just the 021...

Just for the reference I activated FaceTime without having any WiFi coverage at the time!

Ta. Saw the message earlier today and yup works perfectly now.

Re attempting to gain a credit: I eventually gave up after 3 separate attempts with customer support. They just couldn't understand anything I was trying to get across to them.
