My understanding that Vodafone's 3g extended network works at 900MHz, and this band is supported on the iPhone 4. Can someone confirm that they do indeed have access to this nework? I perused Vodafone's list of devices that support 3g extended, and the iPhone  4 is not listed.

Can anyone tell me what VF's extended 3G coverage is like in the Hauraki Gulf, specifically on the waters around Auckland, Waiheke, GBI, Coromandel, up the coast towards the BoI etc please?

@astroboy - Thanks; I've seen the map but I'd really like to know people's experience because last year I was up there on the XT network and their map and what we actually got was quite different...

I'm in Alexandra and it is really good. Using the speedtest app I can sometimes get over 1mbps, most of the time it is around 800k down and 200 up give or take. Hard to find a spot where you get 5 bars of reception now that apple changed the scale though!

I've been in Wanaka for the last week and did several speed tests using the extended 3G service.

Both times the down speed was around 1500k and upstream around 800k, pretty good for my needs anyway.

I just did another test at home (Gore) and I got 750k down and 1510k up, seems odd having faster upload speeds but there you go.

I've spent the last few days in Karaka and the coverage there wasn't great at all. Very frustrating at times.

Never ask what sort of computer a guy drives. If he's a Mac user, he'll tell you. If not, why embarrass him?
