Hey,
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with Google Apps for iPhone. I have been happily using Google Apps on my iPhone for nearly 12 months then this week I begin getting this error.

Cannot Get Mail
The connection to the server failed.

Then it asks me to enter my password which I do correctly.  It then continues to request my password repeatedly without connecting.

I would normally not care that much but all my iPhone contacts are linked to Google Apps so because I can't connect to Google Apps I now have no contacts on my phone - really annoying.

No problem, I thought it may be just a glitch, so I remove the Exchange Google Apps email account and re-enter all the correct details again.

Same error -

I have checked that I have entered all the correct settings on Googles website as per http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740

It is a iPhone 3GS
Software Version 4.1
All software currently updated

I cannot confirm it, but there was a reference to problems in Google Calendar on the Google Apps dashboard. When I removed the sync on Calendar, the email started syncing again on my 3GS using the Exchange Server Google Apps sync option.

Cheers Mike

Ohhh yep figured it out.

You might be aware that Google has recently made some changes to their Google Apps accounts.

Now as long as your Google Apps administrator allows it you can use other Google programs such as Blogger, Picasa etc with your Google Apps login. Whereas previously you could not.

To get around this I had created a personal duplicate account, now because I had a duplicate account my iPhone Google Apps syncing was not working.

As soon as I renamed my duplicated account, my Google Apps sync to my iPhone began working right away.

I hope this helps someone as it had me stumped for days. I factory reset my iPhone before I figured this out and wasted a bunch time.
