So Geohot steps in 12 hours before the release of greenpo1son and releases his own jailbreak solution.

http://limera1n.com/

Supposed to work on all iOS devices vs just A4 devices for greenpo1son.

According to the man himself this is an unpatchable, untethered jailbreak but there have been some bugs reported.

Anyone tried? Feedback?

Works fine on iPhone 4 and iPad with latest os's. I jb'd so I could buy mywi. Stupid Apple needs to allow that app in the store or an alt way to tether to wifi ipads.

Very easy to do and restoring works fine too.
Use the latest not mirrors as people reported problems with v1. I used v2 with no issues and they were up to v3 when I went to bed last night.

looks like I will skip for in favour of 4.2 instead, only a couple weeks away rather than having to update twice.

Baseband thing is only required if you need to unlock your iPhone which shouldn't be the case with nz bought iPhones.

Greenpo1son will be using the same exploit as limera1n for ios4.1 but you'll need to wait for it as the cronic dev team will want to release a non-beta application.

Greenpo1son is also a one click jailbreak where as limera1n you have to follow about 10-12 instructions

Because they're implementing the same exploit limera1n uses as opposed to what they were originally using. That way they can save their exploit for later

greenpoison will be using ths shatter exploit. It's been said that once jailbroken with this exploit you will never be unjailbroken on that device.

Interesting

Anyway it's been reported over at www.modmyi.com that there are a few bugs in this release. Geohotz did rush it to one up the greenpoison team so it does have some issues.

The SHAtter exploit has been saved for the next gen devices. greenpois0n uses geohots exploit.

geohot had most of the bugs fixed that day he released it. If he has current tools your better off using his over any other (unless you want to save a baseband). It was rushed so SHAtter would be saved as his will likely be patched next device.

geohot/limera1n > anything else
