If I jailbreak my iPhone 4, and I connect my iphone to my pc and open iTunes, will iTunes prompt me to update to the new firmware(when it is released) and if this does happen will it over-write the Jailbreak firmware?

you can always choose to ignore it or use the download only option which will download the new firmware but not install it until you want to.

When you do upgrade and or Restore your phone will loose your jailbreak.

If you are wanting to jailbreak your phone i would wait until the iOS 4.2 is out sometime this month. This will give you the most time between having to upgrade and jailbreak. (unless there is a security flaw found such as the PDF exploit)

Yes if you update your jailbroken iPhone to official Apple firmware you will lose your jailbreak.  You then have to wait for the jailbreak devs to release another jailbreak for the firmware version you have updated to.  Or, just don't update, and wait for the devs to release the jailbreak.  That way you don't lose your jailbreak and you can upgrade directly to another jailbroken version.

If you wait for 4.2, make sure you save your 4.1 or earlier SHSHs.
