I use this site http://audiko.net/ to download free ringtones to my computer and then transfer them onto my iphone.

This youtube clip should help you on how to do it step by step :)

I use Ringtone Maker. Free from app store.
Turn any of your iPhones mp3s into Ringtone, easy.

Hi - yes, ringtones are easy to add, change and manage, but txt tones not so much. There were some new txt tones added recently for the iPhone 4, but not many people are happy with them. For the ability to add tones outside Apple's supplied tones (plus a heap of other customisation) you could jailbreak your device.

Cheers,

Fwiw, everytime I do a sync with desktop iTunes I lose my custom ringtone from my phone completely, then have to add it back. Annoying to say the least.

Thanks, yes I did all that to get the ringtone onto my phone in the first place. It just won't stay there. Weird.

I'm using a default for now, so long as the thing rings I've got bigger things to worry about :-)
