Hi all

Last night when I took my iPhone 4 out of my pocket I saw that the torch/camera flash on the backside of the phone was on and when I attempted to stop it, I could not turn it off. I deleted the itorch App and that did not fix the problem. I then completely erased all settings and data and then restored the phone and this did not work either. I even ran down the battery and it still stayed on. For some reason it will just not switch off.

Has anyone else had this problem? I bought the phone outright from Noel Leemings at xmas time, should I just take it back to be fixed as a hardware issue? Or is this some kind of software issue that can be fixed another way? It seems that most people on the Apple support forums who offer suggestions for this type of problem say you should take it to the Genius Lab in the Apple stores, but since we can't do that here does anyone have any bright ideas?

Any help people can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm.... even with a flat battery the light stays on...? Must really be a magical device, or maybe some sort of self-charging battery?
Sorry to hear about the problem - hopefully you've sorted it by now. If not you may like to try holding both the sleep and the home button down for about 10 seconds. It should turn itself off then back on, and may sort itself out. Sort of a re-set/restart.
Sorry, that's all I can think of.

Cheers,
Mike

Definitely didn't leave the torch app on in the background. Deleted the torch app and after that erased all content and data on the phone. Neither worked.

I rang Apple today and they gave me the number for Brightpoint. Brightpoint then told me I needed to go through Noel Leemings, who will then send it on. Have done that and now have to wait up to three weeks to get my phone back.
