Hi all.
I have an iphone 16gb 3gs running ios 4.0.

Have been trying to add some ringtones and txt tones to my phone.
Just wondering how many custom tones can one add?
My phone only shows one when there should be 6 to choose from. When iphone is connected to itunes it show that all 6 are on the phone... I cant seem to find them though.

Any ideas where I can find them?

Thanks

Fants.

Hi, unless jailbroken, it's not possible to add custom txt tones, unfortunately. You should be able to add - many - custom ring tones. I think I have about 50.
Not sure why they may not be showing up on your phone.... they should be under Settings > Sounds > Ringtone. I have 2 sections there - Custom & Standard.
Occasionally when data is not syncing properly I've had to completely power off the phone while plugged in to iTunes, then power it up, and then click on Sync again.... could be worth a try.

Do you know the logic behind this, or whether Apple intend to allow this functionality in future?

Hmm... good question.... but I'm not privy to the reasoning behind this move. They recently added a new selection of txt tones for the iPhone 4 (I think with the iOS 4.2 upgrade), but not many people seem to like the range available.
The technology is certainly there to change txt tones, but still, with more than 2 iPhone users in a room at one time it seems that everyone reaches for their phone at the same time - ie. limited sensible choices of txt tones available.

Anything I suggest or say is my own thoughts and not provided by anyone else unless stated

There is a free ringtone app that I have used "rmaker" app (ringtone maker) to create custom ringtones. I don't think it will work for txt tones.
