Hi

My GF has a 3rd generation iPod touch 32GB currently running 3.1.2 (7D11)

Her laptop is currently broken so she can't synch with itunes, so if she synchs with another computer she will loose all her purchased apps and music etc

I want to both upgrade to latest iOS and jailbreak the iPod.

If I do this will this allow me to add music without her loosing what she already has?

If the ipod is jailbroken can she still use the apple itunes store?

She mentioned something about there is a limit to the number of new computers you can synch your ipod too, and she is already very close to this limit.

Thanks, sorry for noobish questions, I usually try to stay to stay away from apple products, although I have jailbroken and unlocked a previous GF's 1st gen iphone, but that was ages ago.

Many Thanks
Kiwi

I'd also like to upgrade to 4.X iOS but if I synch itunes on my computer to upgrade the firmware won't she loose everything that is currently on the ipod?

Hi

I've found out how to deauthorise her old accounts, so if I authorize my copy of itunes on my pc using her apple store login / password, is there is an option to transfer all purchases to this computer, then I can safely synch + update firmware without losing anything. Is this correct?

Do NOT update the firmware of the iPod. The latest firmware (modem version) is a bitch to say the least!

it's an ipod not an iphone, so modem firmware shouldn't really be very relevant, or are you talking about wifi problems?
