This has me a little interested, the fact this new dongle will work with iPhone 4.

The way it reads though is that unlike with the iPad 2, other iDevices can only output certain videos/apps to the external display, not complete mirroring like the iPad 2 does.

I assume this is a limitation of the hardware rather than the iOS or is there a glimmer of hope that iOS 4.3 will fix this for all iDevices?

It will do mirroring, just that all iDevices will out put at 720p; iPad 2 will output at 1080p.

really can't see a need for this. It's not like you use your iphone as your media player do you? and the cable is so freaking small.

I agree with mushion, it needs to be wireless, or you need DLNA server on the phone.

Because DLNA is standard (yes I know Apple ignores this). And does Apple TV pull off of an iPad or iPhone?
