It seems pointless complaining to Apple but can anyone explain why, for example, the official Tour de France app (59p in the iTunes UK store) is not accessible to the NZ market?

I suppose there are ways and means, but not at short notice :-(

Ask the developer - I did just that for an app I was interested in, just asked the developer to make it available to NZ and they did :)

Agree Ask the developer. It has nothing to do with Apple.

It's the same with ID Games someone there has a vendetta against us(or at lest thats how it looks to me) so we don't get any of there games other than the light version of Wolfenstein

Thats what they say, but i have no reason to believe that. If they can show me the place on iTunes connect that says you have to deal with Tax in NZ then i will believe it.

In fact the only condition that i found in iTunes connect in needing to sign any documents in a country or pay tax was in Japan(One of the countries where you can buy the id iTunes Games)

BTW Yes i am a Developer so i have access to iTunes Connect.

Edit: This post was in reply to a post that has now disappeared

Just in case anybody else was interested in the same app, I got a reply:

"Unfortunately The Tour de France rights are exclusive in your country to your local broadcaster, as a result the applications are not available in your region."

Strange. The "local broadcaster" (which is Sky of course) may have exclusive rights to the TV broadcasts but that's not the purpose of the app, which is mainly to provide live tracking of the riders - something that Sky cannot stop users finding on the internet, at least I damn well hope they can't!

Not sure if there is an equivalent in the Apple store, but on Android I use an app called "Market Enabler" which spoofs the country and network you are on, so any app that is limited to a country can be downloaded and run.

Might be worth doing a search on something like that?

I highly doubt such an app exists in the Apps store...Apple would remove it soon as it appeared :)
Jailbroken however, such an app may exist.... :)

OK not that familiar with Apple stuff. To use it on Android you need to have root access also.

SBS have a tracking app, but it's for the iPad only. Still, something may turn up before Saturday :-)

Cheers

Very much doubt it. You need to have an account on the store in which you attempt to buy from, and it's one store per account.  I have three iTunes accounts just so that I can access the British and US stores in conjunction with the NZ store.  (Fun fact: I've so far discovered two TV series that are only available in the British store, not US, one music track that is only available in the NZ store, not US or British, and nothing that is only available in the US store not the British or NZ).

Essentially, you can get it to access a store other than yours, but if you can't log into it...

I agree. I wanted something only available in the US market, so I made a US account and presto, got the app no problem.
