Well, the move to iOS5 has been slow but nearly, nearly painfree.

Except for one small, yet devastating issue. Devastating because it's not my phone affected... but the better halfs...

I upgraded MobileMe to iCloud. Why not?

The Address Book was wiped in the move.

Sigh.... it appears they are gone.... I deliberately avoided syncing locally with Outlook, cross-syncing to LinkedIn and all that stuff, as I have enough challenge with my own address book.

But I really, really thought such a simple upgrade would have been so easy.

The issue appears to have been the timedelay between upgrading the widget and upgrading the cloud service; One was done the night before, the other in the morn - and in that 8 hour difference, syncronisation hell.

Did you backup the address book as the iCloud transition wizard advises?
