A user started a similar thread only a month ago!

And this is intended as constructive criticism, but writing "Ipad etc" as the title of your thread isn't very helpful (for you and for others) and isn't likely to get too many people looking at your thread.

And it's iPad not Ipad!

Perhaps a smiley next time wouldn't have indicated you were being smart :-)

It's not for me and I'm not a apple person, I've heard mixed things, not sure what applies to Iphone, Ipad or the Idontknow device.

It's also a present so can't ask the Ifan!

Any help would be nice, goggle helps but i've read mixed reports. Do sims apply to Ipad or is it just Iphone?

Before you decide on this do a little math,

Lets take a base ipad as an example US499, add some sales tax ( close to 10% in some california locations, = 548 US, convert to NZ dollars @80c = 685 NZ, add GST (You indicate that you are planning to give this a gift/present thus it will be unopened and mint in your luggage, and unable to be claimed as a item of personal use) and you get NZD 787,

only $12 less than the 799 they retail for in NZ.

Hi - if you still wish to buy one from USA the power adapter will require a change of plug end & if you buy a 3G capable iPad (some are wifi only) then the sim card is available in this country on all carriers.

Cheers,
Mike
