Is there a limit on the number of email addresses you can have on the Ipod. I have Hotmail, Gmail and a home account with paradise. I am trying to set up an additional paradise email address. I have this set up on other computers but it will not verify on the Ipod using the same settings that I have on the computers. I thought there may be a limit on email addresses?.

As far as I know there isn't any specific limit on email a/c numbers - hopefully you've managed to sort the issue.

Thanks Mike. I just want to elimimate all the possibilities. No, I haven't sorted it out it has me stumped at present.
I get the message "Cannot Get Mail. The mail server "pop.paradise.net.nz" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in mail settings".
The info is the same as on three computers and works 100% and this made me think perhaps there is a limit to the number of email addresses.

I have had the same issue, but it was on an Ipad.  After some investigating this, and it appears to be the apple default port.

please check this artice out:

Clearnet or Paradise E-mail Addresses

If you have tried to set up your iOS device to access your Clearnet or Paradise e-mail address, you may have come across some problems with sending e-mail. The main cause of this issue is a default setting that iOS uses, however this is easily fixed.

1. From the home screen select Settings.

2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Select the e-mail account that you're having issues with.

4. Select Account Info.

5. Select SMTP.

6. Select the SMTP server name shown under the heading Primary Server.

7. Select Server Port and change this from 587 to 25.

Helpdesk Support for iOS Devices

TelstraClear's support policy for mobile devices only extends to handsets purchased and/or ranged by TelstraClear. The iPhone and iPad are not currently ranged by TelstraClear and therefore phone or e-mail based helpdesk support is not provided.

For assistance with issues on your iOS device we suggest you contact the original place of purchase or consult the iPhone Assistant on the Apple website.

Not sure if this will help for your Ipod touch.

Didn't all paradise.net email addresses get retired earlier this year and redirected to clear.net ones?

rem12, Thanks for your suggestions to solve my problem. Unfortunately it didn't help. Perhaps it only works with the Ipad.
I think it may be due to the fact that the email I am trying to set up on my Ipod, is an additional address to my main email address. Otherwise I am completely at a loss to know why it doesn't work. May be time to give up LOL.

No. My email at paradise.net still 100%. Also works well on my other computers. This problem is just with my Ipod.

Hi Fog,

Sorry to hear you weren't successful.

I've just been playing on my mates Ipod Touch, and did the following:

1. From the home screen select Settings.

2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Select Add Account....

4. Select Other

5. Select Add Mail Account

6. Enter New Account details:

Name: your_daughters_name

Address: your_daughters_email_address

Password: your_daughters_paradise_email_password

Description: the_description_of_account

and select Save

7. Select POP, up the top (the default is IMAP)

and fill in the remaining sections:

Incoming Mail Server:

Host Name: pop3.paradise.net.nz

User Name: your_daughters_paradise_email_account_name <----(note this is not the email address)

Password: your_daughters_paradise_email_password <----(note this maybe filled in already, I typed this in again)

Outgoing Mail Server:

Host Name: smtp.paradise.net.nz

I left the rest of the fields blank...as they are optional and not required.

8. Select Save

this then attempts to verify the POP account...this should fail.

select Yes, when the dialogue box "Cannot Connect Using SSL" pops up.

it then attempts to verify again, and again this takes time.

9. select Yes, when the dialogue box "Cannot Connect Using SSL" pops up a second time, wait....

10. it should return you to the Mal, Contact, Calender settings.

Select Settings on the top Left, to go back to settings, push the Home button on the ipod touch, choose the Mail icon, this should hopefully force a connection.

11. here's hoping this works for you.

PS...I also had issues with the paradise DNS in the last 3 months, so changed to these DNS Servers; primary 203.97.78.43 and secondary 203.97.33.1 on my wireless access point.

Cheers

rem12, Very many thanks for taking the trouble of trying to talk me through this procedure. I have been through this again and when I get to #9 is comes up with a window "The user name of password for "pop3.paradise.net.nz" is incorrect.
I am positive it is correct, so I can't get past this position. I have the same setup on this computer and another desktop plus my netbook and they all work, so this is what has me bushed.

Hi Fog,

No Prob.

Doesn't leave many choices left.

I suppose the only other things to try could be another paradise account - this would I hope eliminate the ipod touch being an issue; another option, comfirm your daughter's email account name or a password reset for the email account.  Not sure if you want to go through either of the last options, unless you have a little time to spend with paradise helpdesk to confirm the information is correct.

It definately is curious.

Cheers.
