Nz not included in the 16th release looks like it will be the 23rd.

Looks like a decent upgrade. They haven't mentioned what they are going to call it yet?

Still dual core, but the graphics GPU is now quad, 4x faster than Tegra 3 quad, see stuff.tv for blog.

Same dual core CPU more or less which is already quick, much faster graphics, 1080p, Retina, LTE but 3G is now 21mbit, better camera and camera features. Looks like a primo gaming device now. No Siri.

Where did you get the 23rd date from? Did they say that?

Awesome! They didn't talk about that on TWiT, which I was listening to.

Nothing very exciting, although having a 9.7" screen with a higher resolution than my 22" monitor is pretty impressive, I've no doubt it'll look stunning. I don't think it needed a faster CPU, the existing one is already extremely snappy, the GPU is going to put many PC GPU's to shame.

Seems a bit overkill given most of the content that'll be viewed on it though.

AppleTV is just software changes (720p was a software limitation, not hardware) - 1080p is nice, but in an un-jailbroken form, a nigh useless benefit in NZ given bandwidth. I may still upgrade and use my existing one offsite to stream from my Plex server at home - assuming the new one gets jailbroken as quickly as I've come to expect ;)

Plenty of people will still be ditching their iPad/2's for iPad 3's though - looks like they're reverting to the iPod naming scheme, each successive model is just the "new iPod" rather than iPod 2, 3, 4 etc. but with the known generational versions. Not a bad thing, as the numbering starts to sound pretty silly.

+1

If it had an SD card slot/USB I would buy it.

I don't think they will ever put SD or USB in an iPad. Since they don't want anyone to see the filesystem, I don't see how that would fit their design.

I like the look of the new movie trailers feature in the updated iMovie - looks fun to use - but it seems those of us with an iPod Touch are missing out on it again. The starred comment in iTunes says the trailers option is only available for iPad 2 or higher, and iPhone 4 or higher.

I think that pretty much sucks, Apple. We may not have spent as much on the device, but we're buying the application for the same price as other users.

No fair crippling it :(
