There is a Fibaro office and distributor in NZ - I actually chatted with them at CES and the guy who's running things in NZ had a good look at their products. I have the details at home if you can't locate them.

Was hoping for an online store thing, where I could just order it and pay, couldnt find anything like that.  Lots of "download pdf brochure", but thats so annoying :)

Yeah sorry about that team - we welcomed our first baby a month ago and time is at a premium now. I just can't continue to work full time, raise a child, continue with my own tinkering :), AND run an online business!

I have sold all my remaining stock to the guys at Active Automation who are great to deal with and have a much broader range of products.

Would definitely recommend them as your alternative Z-Wave supplier, although I don't think they are stocking/selling the Fibaro controllers yet.

Bugger :)  Yeah I stumbled upon them while googling for a nz supplier, but they don't sell the home controller.  My current best price is $1395 for the Home Controller 2 and $749 for the Lite.  Pretty big price difference between the two.  The LUA engine in the 2 is the only difference I'm really interested in and something that I *might* need.  But thats double the price for something that I just might need....

I would go for the HC2. I put a Lite in the old mans place and it is pretty basic. The rules engine doesn't allow you to do very much without the LUA scripting from what I understand. And it keeps dropping off the network requiring a restart. It doesn't have the latest v4 firmware but I am not sure if that is even available yet?

My problem with openHAB was the zwave binding I found very flaky and became a PITA.  The rules were good, but also they were pretty complex and required a lot of code to set them up.  In the end it was just to much work for me, I rather be doing something else :)

I was having to use both the Vera lite and openHAB since openHAB wouldnt support all my zwave devices (locks etc).  I found the mios addon for openHAB better but its a PITA having the split setup like that.

The vera lite is pretty good, but the rules are extremely basic and its very difficult to do an "AND" condition on a rule.  For example I want a rule like this

- When Bathroom door is opened
- and time is after 6pm or before 6am
- Then, turn on light

Also whenever I try to upgrade firmware on the vera lite it craps out, every single f-ing time.  It maybe the addons I've downloaded, but having to reset the thing to upgrade is just too much work.

In the end, I've decided I want a simple rule wizard where I can pick conditions with AND/OR then pick actions.  Just like MailMarshal/WebMarshal (I work on MailMarshal, its a simple rule wizard, its frustrating using something that isnt when it just should be).

The security command class support is definitely a missing piece. There was someone working on it a while back but they have gone quiet. Should be doable since the guys at OpenZWave have implemented it now, but a matter of someone finding the time (and having devices to test) to actually do it.

lol have they?  I use to get emails about it and then they just stopped :) The source code is all up there, pretty easy to maintain (once you have the openHAB development setup, which I dont, formatting my machine for windows 10 :)) 

I was using the binding until my system started to crap out over the last couple of months, somethign I was going to look at over xmas holidays but got busy with other stuff.  I pulled out 3 zwave modules from my bedrooms because they were dimmers and I couldnt get LED bulbs working with them.  The stuff that really works great for me is door locks, cameras, motion sensors in hallways, turning lights on when the tv is switched off in the lounge at night etc.  But those 4in1 motion sensors are a PITA and wont always work with the vera or zwave stick.   So I figure if I go for the Fibaro its a much more polished product and hopefully everything will work.  But the price will make me do lots of homework before hand.  I'm also wanting to integrate it into an alarm system, so if someone enters a pin on the front door lock the alarm is automatically turned off etc.

IMO openHAB could be great, but its just so much work, once its running sure its great, but during the initial setup/if something breaks it becomes a nightmare, and just something I dont want to spend my time on (I have enough crap around the house to spend my time on :)).
