My neighbours son had the HDD on his PS3 fail and I have swapped in a new one but you need a genuine PS3 controller to reinstall the software and he only has a basic "generic" one.

Does anyone have a working PS3 controller (USB) that I can borrow for a few days, happy to cover shipping or drop back if your local.

She's a solo mum so not too keen on spending ~$50 on a new one (I think she would prefers if I disn't get it working 😂)

I am on the Shore in Auckland.

I'd say sure thing, but I don't know which of mine are "legit" anymore, the "cheap" replacements look exactly the same as the originals (one reason I got them) :-/ If I can work it out overnight, I can get one to you.

Apparently not. you need to have the full charger attached to the PS3 and then run cable from that to controller. Its not seemless unfortunatly.

Doing my research the real ones have a button in the middle with a proper PS logo, while the "not quite original" will often have no button or the button performs a different function.

Yeah these ones are very good clones - every label, marking etc has been replicated :D

Work perfectly on the PS3, but do play up on the RPi (which I dont have here atm so cant use that to test)
