I've got an NZ Spacies arcade machine which has given up the ghost.

I've opened it up and it looks like it was running an old ex-lease HP desktop PC - maybe a P4 with 2GB ram and 500GB hard drive. Not exactly high spec.

I think rather than replacing the PC with another PC, I'd like to replace it with a raspberry Pi running RetroPi. I'm hoping I can just plug in the controllers which seem to be USB.

Anyone got a spare Pi lying around to sell?

I'm in Hamilton

Just piggybacking on this thread, I am also looking for a Pi.

It doesn't need to be flash, I'd be happy with anything right back to the original Model B, it just needs an ethernet port.

As you guys know Raspberry Pi's are getting absolutely scalped to hell currently. If you take a look on Trademe you'll see a few Pi Zero's going for $150!

@ashtonaut What are you planning to do with it? I do have a few single board computers hanging around that may be suitable.

@Huntakillaz Sorry I don't have anything really suitable for Home Assistant but may I suggest perhaps grabbing a small form factor computer like an Intel NUC or Lenovo Tiny that are available for cheap if you can't find a Pi 4?

Yeah TM pricing is ridiculous. I’ve purchased one from Aussie. It’s for a very very simple ‘coal mine canary’ that I can monitor to know when our work systems have lost power and are on UPS. Even a Pi is way overkill, but it’s what I know, and it needs Ethernet, so this is the easiest solution for me.

I do have a couple single board computers I've found in my stash if anyone is interested:

1) Raspberry Pi 2 with a Retroflag NesPi case. Offers around $30 with free shipping. GONE!
2) ODROID-HC1 with a 128gb SSD included. This appears to run Home Assistant OS rather well (just booted this up) and will include a imaged SD card - $50 with free shipping if anyone wants this. GONE!

Just updating this to say I've got a Raspberry Pi 4 (4gb model) with a 3D Printed case, 32gb High Endurance SD card and POE+ Hat installed (so this can be powered over PoE):

If anyone is searching for one still happy to let this go for $130 with free NZ shipping. I'll have the SD card imaged with Home Assistant (which is what it was running before).

The cheaper SBC's are gone.

Pi 4 is still available. If anyone really needs one for a project, lab or anything like that I am happy to accept reasonable offers for it. I priced it a little less than what I paid for the parts new.

For some uses, a used thin client can be a good alternative to a rpi.
I’m using one running debian with containers for: HA, Mosquito, Grafana, influx etc
Its a HP t630 Thin Client -

  • AMD GX-420GI Quad 2GHz
  • 4GB RAM (DDR4, expandable to 64GB)
  • 32GB FD
  • Wifi and ethernet (some come without wifi)
  • 4 * USB2  3 * USB3
  • Passive cooling

Uses more power than a RPI.  The T630 is drawing 9W at the moment.  Mine cost $45 on TM  incl. shipping

Just thought I'd reply in here and piggyback off of michaelmurphy that I also have a Pi4 4GB with POE hat and official case (don't think it fits in the case with the POE hat though), and three pi4 8GB with POE as well that I'd be will to sell for the right price. :)

I have a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B v1.1 free to a good home, just pay the postage ex Auckland.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Do you have, know where the info is for running debian with containers, I want to use as Octoprint server for my 3D printer

Many thanks

@Reanalyse these can run Debian and containers but Octoprint is really annoying to get going reliably outside of the Octoprint Raspberry Pi distribution.

Thanks - may see if something like Repetier-Server may be an alternative- if the 4GB of ram is enough
