yeah i know, these guys seem alright though. http://www.topnotchconstruction.co.nz/

I posted an ad on builders crack, but was also hoping if one of our fellow Geekzoners could recommend someone.

What worries me is that they say a fixed price now and then when the building commences, new costs start coming up out of nowhere or the final bill is more than whats agreed on.

Get a draughtsman rather than an architect, way cheaper and it will probably work when the builder comes to do it. Re a builder, give RDL a call in Upper Hutt.

just so you know, getting a builder to build you a house is not like getting a quote to get your garage door installed.

you need a proper contract so you are fully protected.

if you don't know what that means then you're in big trouble ...
