Hey guys

So my family wants to extend the house a little bit by increasing the size of the lounge and maybe add a little room too. The problem with my house is that its quite old and fully made of concrete.

Does anyone know any company or business that can do something and a low price :P

Really didnt know where else to post

cheers guys!

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you.

Remember to stick to budget, its easy to go over budget very quickly with renovations / builds.

If you want to stick with concrete/brick/block, suggest you try find a South African builder because they know how to work with it, over there you do not build timber homes. And Builder's Crack is recommended (over TradeMe), had a couple of jobs done by finding people through there and the user interface is nice.

not sure about the low price bit. we were quoted like 40k per room (eg kitchen and bathroom and ensuite = 120k!) ... I said haha thanks ... talk to you soon :D

haha 40k per room is quite steep but if your house is as old as mine and made of concrete etc.. its quite reasonable.

I got a quote from one guy last year who said it would be cheaper to rebuild the whole house lol but i just want to look into it again as an extra room and a bigger lounge would be great!

Was that including consents from the council?
Council prices seem to be going mad these days!

Hey guys,

so i got a building company to look at the building site and gave me a guesstimate price. He said before he can actually give me a proper price/qoute i need it all designed by an architect. I understand that but he said that will cost me a bit.

Now at this stage we are just thinking about it but the price he guessed has got us wanting to take it further.

So would anyone know/recommend an architect in the lower hutt, wellington region. I need plans designed/drawn up for the builder but dont want to spend too much as it would be a waste if the real price he gives me is too much.

So yeah looking for a not-so-expensive architect who can do this for me.

Cheers guys!

i managed to find some good architects on builderscrack.co.nz, but that was for Auckland. i find what helps is getting an image off google to give them an idea on what sort of image you have in your head. Be careful with cheap builders, make sure you get everything in writing...
