Would you consider an S4 which is just over a year old? Originally bought from the Warehouse as an XT version but been running on Vodafone?

Just to point out am just suggesting Ativ S cause I have one and like it (I don't actually have one to sell). Noticed Playtech has one (and only one) left if you're interested for $289. Don't know if that price would be OK for you. Others apparently have it too, though for more...

I would recommend it, though from a very casual user point of view (and to confuse the issue a bit more, my son has a Moto G and thinks its awesome, though maybe not for the camera bit)

O ok thanks, yep price sounds reasonable for a "windows S3" , I had a windows Lumia at one stage which was a nice phone and quite novice friendly with enough basic apps available.

I cant remember if I have to register MS email to get things done on it on a routine basis as she has only just got the hang of gmail and that will stuff things up, stupid vague question I know

Is it likely to get the latest WP OS?

Well at the moment for email I just have two gmail accounts set up for myself and partner. For MS email it appears you can just 'add an account' under 'email+accounts' - it gives a list including Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, Google, Facebook, etc, so I guess that will work, though don't want to actually try adding anything myself at the moment, just in case. Gmail works fine for me though.

Think I saw a thread on Geekzone the other day about the Ativ S and Windows Phone 8.1, and which obviously I can't find at the moment. It basically said that it should get updated, but might take quite a long time, as the service provider has to receive it from Samsung (for firmware I guess) and they then have to check it and then push it out.

Also bear in mind that while I like it, its seems to be in run out mode, and getting quite thin on the ground - though hopefully that makes it cheaper also.

I should have an S3 for sale later this week. Mine's a bit damaged so just bought another broken one off trademe and planning to swap some parts across. Would be after $250, once I'm confident it's working fine.
